This spring has been full of powerful growth for Rainbow Homestead Initiative—from academic recognition to community partnerships and exciting new leadership. We’re thrilled to share some of the ways we’re rising with pride.
On May 15th, our founder and Executive Director, Raevyn Sunfyr, presented at the 14th Annual Student Research Conference at the University of Michigan–Flint. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with students, faculty, and community members who share our passion for equity and inclusion.
Even more exciting: Raevyn now has the opportunity to have our research study officially published—a powerful step forward in amplifying the voices and needs of LGBTQ+ individuals in our region.
“This research is rooted in lived experience and community care. Seeing it recognized at this level is deeply affirming.” — Raevyn
We’re actively growing our network of support and collaboration, including new conversations with organizations like Affirmations in Detroit. These relationships are helping us strengthen our foundation and expand our reach.
We also had our first official board interview, featuring a member of Great Lakes Bay Pride, who shared:
“Visibility, support, and safe spaces are essential. Initiatives like Rainbow Homestead are helping create that reality.”
We’re preparing to show up and celebrate at two upcoming Pride festivals:
Great Lakes Bay Pride Festival – June 28th at Jolt Park in Saginaw
Flint Pride Festival – July 19th
We’re currently fundraising to cover booth fees, supplies, and (hopefully!) some fun giveaways to help us connect with the community in meaningful ways. Want to support? [Reach out or donate ➤]
We’re thrilled to officially welcome Jazmyn as our new Director of Operations! Her leadership and dedication have already made a meaningful impact.
We’ve also welcomed Sean as our Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships, bringing our board to three members—enough to begin our 501(c)(3) registration process with LARA!
Every step we take is rooted in community, care, and connection. We’re so grateful for your continued support and can’t wait to share what’s next.
Stay tuned—and if you’d like to help us bloom this Pride season, we’d love to hear from you.
