As summer winds down, we’re reflecting on the journey Rainbow Homestead Initiative has taken over the past few months—and the quiet, powerful steps that continue to shape our mission.
🌈 June: Showing Up with Pride
We were honored to host a booth at Great Lakes Bay Pride in Saginaw on June 28th, where we connected with incredible community members and shared our vision for healing-centered housing.
We raised a total of $75 at the event:
$25 came from a direct donation to Rainbow Homestead Initiative
$50 came from sales through our partner, The Wolfe & Raevyn (formerly Raevyn’s Books & Apothecary), who generously donated 20% of their profits to support our mission
These proceeds helped us take a meaningful step forward—supporting the creation of this very website and contributing toward our goal of becoming a fully legalized 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every interaction, every dollar, and every shared story at Pride helped lay the foundation for what we’re building now.
💛 July: Rest and Renewal
In July, we stepped back to care for family and honor the rhythms of rest. Healing and sustainability begin at home—and we’re grateful for the space to recharge and reflect.
🔗 August: Quiet Connections, Bold Intentions
Behind the scenes, we’ve been building bridges in Genesee County, forming new relationships and exploring opportunities to expand our reach. These connections are laying the groundwork for future collaborations, land access, and deeper community impact.
🍂 What’s Next: Raise the Roof with Returns
We’re kicking off our Fall Bottle Drive, running now through October 31st, to raise funds for our 501(c)(3) filing and land purchase. Every bottle returned helps us build safe, affirming housing for LGBTQ+ individuals and families facing homelessness and systemic barriers.
